2. Clean the window: Ensure that the window surface is clean and dry. Wipe down the window frame and glass to remove any dust, dirt, or residue.

3. Measure the window: Measure the dimensions of the window you want to cover. Add a few inches to each side to ensure adequate coverage.

4. Cut the plastic film: Using scissors, cut the plastic film from the insulation kit according to the measurements taken in the previous step.

5. Apply double-sided tape: Stick the double-sided tape around the window frame, ensuring it is placed close to the glass and covers all four sides. The tape should form a continuous perimeter.

6. Attach the plastic film: Carefully position the plastic film over the window, aligning it with the double-sided tape. Press the film onto the tape, ensuring it adheres firmly.

7. Heat and shrink the film: Use a hairdryer or heat gun on a low setting to gently heat the plastic film. Start from one corner and work your way across the film, moving the heat source evenly. The heat causes the film to shrink and tighten, eliminating wrinkles and creating an airtight seal.

8. Trim excess film (optional): If there is any excess film extending beyond the window frame, use scissors to trim it off for a neater appearance.

Plastic window covers create an additional layer of insulation, reducing drafts and heat transfer. They are commonly used during colder months to help retain warmth and improve energy efficiency. It’s important to note that plastic covers may obstruct your view and limit access to the window, so they are typically used on windows that do not need to be opened frequently.
