SERVICES & REPAIR
A home’s windows are particularly communicative. When your windows are foggy, leaky, cold, or otherwise not doing their intended job, you might wonder whether repair or replacement is your best option. Broken windows are not only an inconvenience, but they also pose a security risk to your home. If an accident or break-in occurs, you shouldn’t wait until regular business hours for your window to be repaired or replaced. So we need to understand which step should we take?
Windows are an essential part of a home’s design – particularly when it comes to admitting natural light. For a new home or commercial places, we use a different kind of windows like Vinyl, Wood-Framed, and Aluminum windows. Various types of windows in multiple styles come to install in our new houses.
The most common window types installed in homes are:
1. Single Hung Windows.
2. Double Hung Windows.
3. Casement Windows (rectangular windows that open outwards with a handle).
4. Picture Windows (large fixed square windows that don’t open, great for views).
5. Arched Windows.
6. Awning Windows:
7. Bay Windows (multi-window style that protrudes from the home and can include a seating area).
1. Single Hung Windows:
In the single hung window, the bottom sash moves up to open and allow in airflow. The top sash is fixed. Since it opens and closes without protruding, single-hung windows are an excellent choice for rooms facing walkways, porches or patios.
2. Double Hung Windows:
This type of window has two sashes that slide vertically up and down in the frame. They can open wide from either the top or the bottom, but they remain inside the frame, so they don’t protrude out to the exterior or interior of the house.
3. Casement Windows:
Provide maximum ventilation and natural light. They work well in places where ventilation is required, such as in a bathroom or kitchen, and are commonly used in a sitting room, where unobstructed views are desired.
4. Picture Windows:
Whether the view outside your home is a lush green backyard or a mountain range, the best way to fully enjoy your view is with beautiful large picture windows. Picture windows are fixed windows that can not be opened. 5. Arched Windows:
For Home Design, arched windows are very stunning. Arched windows can add architectural interest above a window or door, or function as stand-alone windows. Endless design options include quarter-circles, half-circles, full circles, ovals and elliptical, plus custom solutions for divided lites, glass, interior, and exterior finishes.
6. Awning Windows:
Awning windows are hinged on top and open outward, enabling ventilation without letting in the rain or falling leaves. Screens are on the inside of the window, where they’re more protected from the elements. Awning windows are often used for basements because they can be placed high on the wall and easily operate with a turn of the handle. Awning windows are generally smaller in size than double-hung, casements, or sliders.
7. Bay Windows:
Bay window, window formed as the exterior expression of a bay within a structure. A bay window is a glass-sided recess in the home that protrudes outwards from the house. From the exterior, it looks like a decorative expansion growing out of the house. From the interior, however, it’s the equivalent of what a bay is to the ocean: a small inlet that’s slightly separated from main space. Plus, if you need to take a five-minute break from your family, it can be just the sheltered harbor you’re looking for.

Should I Replace or Repair?
If your window’s problem is minor, such as needing new weather-stripping or hardware, a repair might be the best option. Consider the following:
Appearance Defects – Repairing your windows may be a suitable solution.
Dirty Glass – Cleaning or replacing the glass will likely resolve this issue.
Condensation Between Window Panes – Replacement is the best choice here, as the seal has failed.
Minor Hardware Problems – Often, simple repairs can fix these issues.
However, for damaged window frames or windows that are stuck when closing, replacement is necessary. Severe damage compromises both the appearance and efficiency of your windows, and continuing repairs could make the issue worse.
